CBC PARALYMPIC SAMBA PROMO FOR THE RIO 2016 GAMES

We’re proud to debut a commercial we directed for CBC Music for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, Brazil! It was a lot of fun to utilize the Paralympic equipment to create all the unique percussion sounds used in the piece. We were especially impressed by the sound a simple tennis racket can make in the right hands! Jillian MacSween, who helped win a bronze medal from the 2015 Toronto Parapan Am games in goalball, participated in this promotional spot. Special thanks to Batacuda Carioca for all their talent and vibrant energy, you were all fantastic to work with. Take a look at the video! The 2016 Rio Paralympic Games takes place September...

WHAT TO DO IN TORONTO: CHECK OUT WINTER STATIONS 2016 | “In The Belly of the Bear”

A few days ago, we watched a CTV news segment on the Winter Stations Design Competition of 2016…it really caught our attention and we thought that it would be great to check out some cool installations in our beautiful city! So, we figured that yesterday was a perfect day to visit KEW beach to see a few winter stations. One of the installations called “In The Belly of the Bear” (designed by Caitlind r.c. Brown, Wayne Garrett and Lane Shordee from Calgary) really caught our eyes…to see a huge contrast of a massive black wooden ball with the white snow in the foreground and the lake/sky in the background. Some of the locals have told us that we were very fortunate to be sitting inside the “Belly of the Bear” with no line-ups. It was pretty awesome to check out the interior of the belly up-close and personal…we were able to sit on a fabricated fur bench which faced a circular window in order to take in the beautiful view of lake Ontario…it was nice to touch the fur lining of the dome and it really kept us warm by blocking the wind! The purpose of this competition was to re-image the beach’s lifeguard stand…as we climbed up the wooden ladder, we honestly felt like kids climbing up a tree house…and what a perfect way for us to share the experience with each other as kids at heart =) Overall, it was great to see a couple of winter stations and we’ll definitely return to see the remaining art installations! Hope you enjoy the video! Happiness, Joy & Love,...

RECAP VID |”CELEBRATING SON OF S.O.U.L.” PARTY

On September 1st, 2015, Toronto lost a giant of its music scene with the passing of Masimba Kadzirange aka DJ Son Of S.O.U.L. Perhaps the only thing bigger than Masimba’s heart was his knowledge of music. A highly skilled and intelligent DJ, you weren’t only getting a great party when he was behind the decks but you were getting a lesson on music history in the process. After a huge outpouring from the Toronto community at large, Supermarket in Kensington Market played host on September 24th, 2015 to a sendoff to be remembered by filling the venue to capacity (and spilling out on to the streets!) not only with the crowd but with love from each and every person in attendance showing their respects to the Grandmaster Of S.O.U.L himself. Jermaine Brown, one of the many DJ’s from the night remarked, “Anything you have a passion in, and you show that you 100% enjoy what you’re doing and you love music as much as (Masimba) did, that just kinda spreads…”. You could certainly hear the influence all night long from the long list of talented DJ’s all playing from vinyl only for the entire night. Jason Henry aka DJ Sessions from iLIVE radio who was live streaming the entire night said, “I think (Masimba’s) effect on the community could never really be measured in terms of the amount of love he showed and that the city is showing him right now. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it in my life”. Certainly a one of a kind event in Toronto history, it was only fitting that Masimba’s...

LaPointe Prod. + Wally Sparks Fashion Shoot

This is our first experiment in fashion cinematography. We tagged along with our good friend Wally Sparks for this one and were pretty happy with the results…a little more ‘indie’ this time in terms of look/feel and we concentrated more on the overall look/grade of the footage this time to reflect the look Wally was going for photo wise. Here’s the link to Wally’s Photos => photodonuts.com/compatible-heights-by-wally-sparks. In addition, we were just featured with Wally Sparks on Elite Toronto Model Management’s blog! Check it out! elitetoronto.blogspot.com/2011/10/lapointe-prod-wally-sparks-fashion.html. We hope you enjoy!
