CHERRY BLOSSOM + SAKURA SEASON | SCARBOROUGH | TORONTO

Cherry blossom season is upon us once again and for a short time each year we are treated to a beautiful display of the Japanese Sakura in Toronto!

Many will head off to High Park but completely miss the beautiful cherry blossom trees in their own back yard in Scarborough!

1) UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO – SCARBOROUGH CAMPUS – 1265 Military Trail

“The cherry blossoms in Sakura Grove located between H-Wing and the Social Sciences building are beginning to bloom, signalling the symbolic arrival of spring.” – U of T Scarborough Website

Here’s an update as of May 11th, 2019:

The blossoms at the U of T Scarborough Campus are blooming and should be fully open within the next couple of days.

2) BIRKDALE RAVINE – 1100 Brimley Rd.

Another pleasant surprise was Birkdale Ravine, both serene and peaceful. After a bit of searching we found where the cherry blossom trees were located (don’t give up if you can’t find them at first). Although these Sakura are a bit younger and were only partially bloomed, they were still beautiful and this location will only get more impressive in the coming seasons.

Be sure to bring your mother and your camera for Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day!
